18 Eagles Players Have Expiring Contracts This Offseason

It is officially time to transition to offseason mode for the Philadelphia Eagles. The team already has started putting together its 2020 training camp roster by signing eight players to future contracts earlier this week.

The front office still has plenty of decisions to make in regards to players that were on the team this season. There are currently 18 Eagles that are pending free agents; here is a breakdown of their free agent status.

*Unrestricted Free Agents:

RB Jordan Howard

CB Jalen Mills

CB Ronald Darby

LB Kamu Grugier-Hill

LT Jason Peters

QB Nate Sudfeld

QB Josh McCown

FS Rodney McLeod

WR Nelson Agholor

DE Vinny Curry

DT Timmy Jernigan

DT Hassan Ridgeway

TE Richard Rodgers

OL Halapoulivaati Vaitai

*Unrestricted free agents are players with expired contracts that have completed four or more accrued seasons of service. They are free to sign with any franchise once free agency starts, or can be re-signed by their original team prior to the start of free agency.

*Exclusive Rights Free Agents:

P Cameron Johnston

WR Deontay Burnett

CB Craig James

*Exclusive Rights free agents are players who have played two seasons in the NFL, but can remain property of the team as long as that team makes them a one-year tender offer for the minimum salary.

*Restricted Free Agents:

RB Corey Clement

*A restricted free agent means the team that player was on can tender him an offer, and another team has a right to match that offer and sign him. The second team would have to surrender a draft pick that commensurates with the tender amount if they successfully sign the player away from the original team.

***It is also worth noting that linebacker Nigel Bradham essentially has a club option on his deal, so the team will also have to decide if they want to keep him, release him, or rework his contract again.

The Eagles are currently estimated to have $33.6 Million in cap space for 2020 (and that is before any possible cap casualties that occur this offseason). Howie Roseman has plenty of room to make whatever moves he feel are best for this team moving forward. His first moves will have to be in regards to the previous players mentioned, so in the coming weeks we will find out more about what direct Roseman will take this team.
