Week 3 Positional Advantages: Eagles at Cowboys

The Eagles have their first divisional game of the season as they take on the hated Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football. This article will compare both teams at every position and see which one has the advantage in this matchup.

QB: Advantage Cowboys

It pains me to say it, but Dak Prescott was on a MVP pace last season before his season-ending injury. He's off to a decent start this season, but there are still some concerns with his shoulder that he injured before the season. Ultimately though he'll have a slight advantage over Jalen Hurts.

RB: Advantage Cowboys

Zeke Elliott and Tony Pollard are a pretty solid rotation for the Cowboys so far in 2021. Miles Sanders and Kenny Gainwell are close to them, but the Cowboys have the head-to-head advantage.

WR: Advantage Cowboys

Amari Cooper seems to be an Eagles killer, and CeeDee Lamb is on his way to becoming one himself. The Eagles' young trio of DeVonta Smith, Jalen Reagor, and Quez Watkins have to build chemistry still in order to get on the Cowboys' level.

TE: Advantage Eagles

There are few matchups where Zach Ertz + Dallas Goedert won't be better than the opposing team's tight end group. A clear advantage in this one for Philly.

OL: Advantage Eagles

A starter on the Cowboys o-line was suspended for trying to bribe the league into avoiding drug tests. It doesn't matter that the Eagles are missing two starters on their line, I would much rather have the Eagles o-line than deal with the stupidity down in Dallas.

Pash Rushers (DE/OLB): Advantage Eagles

The Cowboys are missing a handful of pass rushers in this game. Even though BG is out for the season, the Eagles by far have a better pass rush than the Cowboys.

LBs: Advantage Cowboys

The Eagles are not going to have many linebacker advantages this season. Eric Wilson has been a pretty big disappointment so far. Maybe Howie Roseman will actually draft a linebacker early in 2022 since the position is still a glaring hole in Philly.

DBs: Advantage Eagles

Even though they have yet to force a turnover this season, the trio of Darius Slay, Steven Nelson, and Avonte Maddox have been good (bordering on great) through two games. They have their hands full with Prescott, but I am still giving them the advantage over the Cowboys' DBs.

STs: Push

Nothing drastic here, I see this as a pretty even positional matchup going into Monday Night.

Closing Comments

The Cowboys may have the advantage at skill positions, but the Eagles have a pretty clear advantage in the trenches for this game. Let's just hope that the trench battle is the deciding factor in this game.
