Happy Dallas Week! The bye week was good to the Eagles, as both the Redskins and Cowboys lost while the Birds were home resting. As a result, the Eagles are just a game behind the ‘Skins for the division lead, while the Cowboys dropped a game below the Birds in the standings. Let’s see how things look.
Redskins (5-3)
The ‘Skins were thumped at home by the Falcons. The biggest takeaway from this game was the Washington defense, which has performed well this season, getting picked apart by Matt Ryan who threw for 350 yards and four touchdowns. They were also gouged for 154 yards on the ground. The ‘Skins had an opportunity to create some space between themselves and the rest of the division, but instead came back to the pack, leaving things wide-open in the NFC East.
They travel to Tampa Bay to take on the Bucs on Sunday.
Eagles (4-4)
The Eagles had a week to rest following their trip to London and enjoyed being the beneficiaries of stumbles from the Redskins and Cowboys. They host the Cowboys Sunday night with a chance to put the ‘Boys in a dire situation while keeping the pressure on the Redskins.
Cowboys (3-5)
The Cowboys suffered the most disappointing result in the division in Week 9, losing at home to the Titans. It’s difficult to decide what the biggest problem was for the ‘Boys. Dak Prescott lost a fumble and threw a brutal interception in the red zone. Dallas managed just 72 yards on the ground. Meanwhile the defense allowed Marcus Mariota to actually look good, and surrendered 125 yards on the ground. They will come to the link on Sunday as a desperate team.
Giants (1-7)
The G-Men joined the Eagles on the bye, earning a merciful break from getting beat on the field. They will bless the nation with a riveting Monday night matchup against the 49ers this week.
Overview
The bye week couldn’t have gone any better for the Eagles, and now they have a chance to deal a devastating blow to the Cowboys Sunday night. A win gets the Eagles to 2-0 in the division and 3-3 in the conference, and would leave them in firm control of their playoff destiny.
