REPORT: Eagles Inquire About LeSean McCoy

With the news that Jay Ajayi is out for the season with a torn ACL and the Eagles offense struggling, the football world quickly started looking at moves the Eagles could make to replace Ajayi and jump-start the offense.

Naturally, all eyes immediately turned to Le’Veon Bell, but as of now it appears that isn’t happening. Reports then popped up about possible interest in David Johnson. The latest name to be mentioned is former Eagle LeSean McCoy.

McCoy, the franchise’s all-time leading rusher, created countless memories in an Eagles uniform. His dual-threat abilities are perfect for today’s NFL. However, McCoy is on the wrong side of 30 and has taken on a huge workload over his NFL career.

The Fanatic’s Anthony Gargano has reported that the Bills’ asking price is a second and third round pick, which might be a bit steep.

It’s possible that the Eagles elect to give it a go with the running backs on the roster. If Corey Clement and Darren Sproles get healthy, the Birds might feel comfortable with that duo along with Wendell Smallwood and Josh Adams. However, the team is also in win-now mode, and wants to take advantage of every season with Carson Wentz at the helm.

Clearly the Eagles will explore all possibilities as they look to revive the offense, put the best team on the field as they try to defend their Super Bowl title, and aim to maximize their opportunity with a franchise quarterback directing the offense.

The rumors will continue to swirl until a move is made or the team comes out and says they are standing pat, so prepare yourselves for more speculation over the coming days.
