On today's injury report, two Eagles running backs were listed with injuries that limited their availability: Darren Sproles and Jordan Howard. With their availability for Sunday's game against the Patriots unknown, it appears the team is being proactive and potentially finding a replacement if one or both of those running backs can not play on Sunday. The team is hosting former Eagle Jay Ajayi for a visit tomorrow.
Ajayi played 11 regular season games in an Eagles uniform between 2017 and 2018, rushing for 592 yards and four touchdowns while also adding 15 receptions for 111 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown. He was a big part of the three-headed backfield for the team in the 2017 playoffs, which culminated in the team winning its first Super Bowl trophy.
My guess is that if Sproles and/or Howard is ruled out for Sunday's game after Friday's practice, Roseman will sign Ajayi because he is the only running back on the street who already knows this offense. Depending on how those two injuries progress, the Eagles running back depth chart for the Patriots game might be Miles Sanders, Boston Scott, and Ajayi.
