Jordan Matthews Quiet in His Return to Eagles

The Eagles brought in Jordan Matthews for a second stint this week for Carson Wentz to have a familiar face to throw to. Before adding Matthews to the roster, the only players Wentz had previously thrown a past to heading into the Colts game were Nelson Agholor and Zach Ertz.

With Matthews brought back into the picture, there was some expectation that Matthews would jump right in and produce big numbers.  That did not happen - instead Carson Wentz focused on the tight ends, and only ended up connecting with Jordan Matthews twice for a total of 21 yards.

Since Matthews is most effective in the slot, along with Nelson Agholor, there was a fear among fans that the team would put Agholor on the outside, and would alter Agholor's abilities to produce and help the Eagles offense. The team actually ended up putting Matthews on the outside for his routes.

With the return of Alshon Jeffery coming potentially in the next week or two, Doug Pederson and Howie Roseman will have to choose if they want to keep Jordan Matthews around. They could choose to keep him around because of his chemistry with Wentz, and possibly release Kamar Aiken instead.
