With the Eagles picture of the playoffs becoming dull, one thing that some fans were looking forward to was the team possibly giving Jordan Mailata his first real taste of NFL action once the team was officially eliminated. Well that fantasy has come to an end as Mailata has been placed on Injured Reserve, ending his season.
Mailata popped up on yesterday's injury report with a back injury, and hopefully this is just precautionary and not something to be concerned about when it comes to his future. It would have been extremely beneficial to Howie Roseman and company for him to see some snaps at the end of the season. The team will have a tough decision when it comes to Jason Peters - they can release him and possibly use an early draft pick to try to find his replacement. Or they can possibly keep Peters and still believe that Mailata will develop into a solid Left Tackle. At least Mailata can now spend even more time studying film.
