Jon Dorenbos Set to Have Book and Movie Released About His Life

Everyone's favorite longsnapper will be getting some extra attention soon.

According to his website, Jon Dorenbos is set to have a book, called Life is Magic, released later this year. Mike Tollin, an Academy Award nominated producer, is also in the process of making a movie based on Dorenbos' life.

The movie wouldn't be the first that references the Philadelphia Eagles in some way. There are a handful of movies where the team appears or is referenced, including:

  • Silver Linings Playbook (2012)

  • Invincible (2006)

  • The Garbage Picking Field Goal Kicking Philadelphia Phenomenon (1998)

  • Ace Ventura: Pet Detective(1994)

*The team's incredible run to Super Bowl LII will most likely end up getting a movie made about it in some way as well.

Dorenbos' entire life has felt like a movie - he dealt with the murder of his mother by the hands of his father at a young age and grew up with his aunt, which is when he got into magic as a coping mechanism. He manipulating his way into earning a scholarship to play college football after sending in highlights from other teammates who had the same build as him. His college career lead to a chance at the NFL, where he eventually ended up in Philadelphia.

For 11 seasons, Dorenbos was an Eagle while also perfecting his magic. His magic abilities lead him to earn an audition on America's Got Talent in 2016, where he gained national attention and placed 3rd overall. That allowed him the chance to be recognized by Ellen Degeneres, who now has Dorenbos appear on her show regularly. The Eagles traded Dorenbos to the Saints in 2017, but a physical showed that he had a heart issue that required immediate open-heart surgery. Successful surgery allowed him to retire and he now spends his time touring the country as a motivational speaker while also performing magic.

Eagles fans will surely be the first ones to grab his book this and get tickets to his future movie. Maybe Dorenbos will get a start as an actor to add that to his repertoire.
