Jalen Hurts Named Eagles Starter
The Eagles will have a new quarterback under center to start Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Doug Pederson will name Jalen Hurts the starting quarterback, with Carson Wentz backing him up.
Wentz was benched in the second half in the Week 12 matchup against the Green Bay Packers, going 6/15 for just 79 yards and zero touchdowns. Hurts took over and almost led the Eagles to an improbable comeback, going 5/12 for 109 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
Hurts will have his hands full in his first career start, as he'll be facing the current #1 seed in the NFC in the New Orleans Saints. The Saints defense has especially been impressive the last few months, which will make it even more impressive if he is able to perform well on Sunday.
It's unclear if Hurts will be the starter for the rest of the 2020 season, or if Pederson will have a short leash on him and willing to put Wentz back in at some point.
