Genard Avery Signs with Steelers

It's pretty rare for Howie Roseman to due poorly in a trade, but it's now become official that the trade for Genard Avery back in 2019 didn't pan out.

Today Genard Avery signed a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Eagles gave up a 4th round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft to acquire Avery from the Cleveland Browns back in 2019. The Browns used that pick to select OT James Hudson, who played in 12 games (4 starts) last season. Had the Eagles kept that draft pick, they could have ended up with a player like WR Amon-Ra St. Brown or DT Tommy Togiai.

Ultimately Avery played in 35 games and only had 517 defensive snaps. As an in-between DE/LB, he produced 55 tackles (6 for loss), 10 QB hits, 3.0 sacks and just one pass deflection.
