After a season that ended far too soon, the Eagles have been making some minor changes to their coaching staff. So far WR coach Gunter Brewer, DL coach Chris Wilson and assistant OL coach Eugene Chung have all been shown the door, while the team has added Roy Istvan as their assistant OL coach and Matt Burke to an advisory role for the defense.
Today, the Eagles added another coach to their staff, and this one should be a familiar name to most fans.
G.J. Kinne has been around the Eagles organization for a few years. He initially tried making the team as a quarterback, but winded up being on the practice squad in 2013 and 2014. In 2015 he changed his position, instead trying to make the team as a wide receiver and kick returner. Despite his efforts, Kinne still couldn't crack the 53-man roster, and was released from the team.
In 2017, he began he coaching career, serving as a graduate assistant at Southern Methodist University. He moved to the University of Arkansas in 2018, becoming their offensive analyst and QB coach. He will now get his first taste of being a coach in the NFL as the Eagles offensive assistant coach. Kinne will be the 4th former Eagles player to become a coach for the team, joining Doug Pederson (HC), Duce Staley (RB) and Tim Hauck (S).
