Eagles Sign Sony Michel's Brother to Futures Contract

While the Eagles are preparing for their playoff matchup against Chicago this weekend, Howie Roseman is looking ahead for the 2019 season by filling up his Training Camp roster.

Today the Calgary Stampedes of the Canadian Football League released WR Marken Michel from his contract to allow him to sign a futures contract with the Eagles. Michel is the older brother of Patriots RB Sony Michel.

The 25-year-old was one of three receivers the Eagles worked out back on Christmas Eve, and apparently impressed enough to earn himself a chance at making the Eagles' 2019 roster.

In Michel's two seasons in the CFL, he has caught 72 passes for 1,215 yards and eight majors (touchdowns).

With Nelson Agholor, Golden Tate, Jordan Matthews, and Mike Wallace all becoming Free Agents this spring, there is a lot of uncertainty at the receiver position for the Eagles. We saw DeAndre Carter defy the odds and make the Eagles' initial 53-man roster this season, so Michel will definitely have a chance to prove himself and impress the coaches enough to get a shot at making the roster.
