The preseason is officially in the rear-view mirror, which means the Eagles can now focus solely on their first real opponent: the Washington Redskins.
The Redskins might not have their best possible lineup on the field when they head into Lincoln Financial Field next week, as left tackle Trent Williams still hasn't reported to the team. Williams has told former teammate Deangelo Hall that he doesn't not plan to report to the team any time soon either.
Since Williams is unlikely to travel with the team to Philadelphia, it appears the Redskins will use either Geron Christian or Donald Penn as their left tackle in Week 1. If healthy enough to play, Derek Barnett is likely to go up against whoever the Redskins decide to put at left tackle, although Jim Schwartz could move Brandon Graham there if he feels Graham would be the better mismatch.
To make things even worse for the Redskins (and better for the Eagles), the team is set to have Ereck Flowers as their starting left guard next Sunday. Schwartz will likely have Fletcher Cox lined up against Flowers for that laughable mismatch. If not, then Malik Jackson and Tim Jernigan are still extremely likely to beat Flowers early and often if they were to match up against him.
The Redskins named Case Keenum the starting quarterback against the Eagles, but given their offensive line situation, Dwayne Haskins might have to go under center if the Eagles defensive line bruises up Keenum. Next Sunday will likely be a very good day to have the Eagles defense on your fantasy team.
