At the start of the 2018 season, everyone had high hopes for the Eagles secondary. With everyone returning from last year's Super Bowl win plus adding Sidney Jones and Avonte Maddox, it seemed like they were ready to become one of the best secondaries in the whole league. The season started off fine after the Eagles defense allowed just 12 points in their Week 1 win over Atlanta, but since then it has gone downhill.
Not only has their overall play been sub-par, but now the Eagles secondary is completely depleted from injuries.
The team will now have to rely on free agents they get off of the street. However, Eagles legend Eric Allen has thrown his hat into the ring and says he is ready to help turn the Eagles season around by suiting up.
In his seven years with the Eagles, Allen played in 111 games and recorded 34 interceptions, which are tied for the most in team history. His 8 career pick-sixes could help out this Eagles team which is struggling to create turnovers and putting points on the scoreboard.
At 52 years old, Allen might not be able to provide a big boost. It is worth questioning though if he might be a better option than the recent additions the Eagles brought in, who allowed Drew Brees and company to put up 48 points.
