Upper management has elected to keep Carson Wentz out of tonight's preseason opener against the Tennessee Titans.
With Wentz coming off of a season-ending back injury, the franchise is deciding to use extreme caution and not overexpose Wentz when it isn't really necessary. It would be nice to see Wentz is action at some point this season, just so fans could see the potential chemistry he has with all of his new offensive weapons. There's still three other preseason games the team could sneak him into, but since it appears they are being careful with Wentz we might not be seeing him on the field until Week 1 against Washington.
Nate Sudfeld, Cody Kessler and Clayton Thorson will be getting the extra reps in Wentz's place. This preseason is huge for the Eagles with Sudfeld -- the Eagles need to find a reliable safety net for Wentz now that Nick Foles is out of the picture. Sudfeld is set to become a free agent after the season, so if he shows tons of promise this month he will be setting himself up for a major payday in 2020 (either with the Eagles or with another franchise).
