Avonte Maddox has been doing everything right since entering the NFL. After showing off his versatility in 2018, Maddox is ready to prove that he can be a true starting cornerback for the Eagles. He already has Seth Joyner in his corner, who believes he can be the Eagles' best cornerback in 2019 and beyond. Now Maddox will try to prove Joyner right, and the first step is to workout and train with the best before the team reconvenes next month for Training Camp, which is exactly what he is doing.
After the team's final minicamp practice on Thursday, Maddox told media that he will spend time in California working out with all-pro cornerback Desmond King.
Maddox likely wants to work with King because they both have a similar build (Maddox is 5'9, King is 5'10). With King being considered one of the best smaller cornerbacks in the NFL, Maddox will be watching King's workouts closely while picking his brain for information he'll need to take the next step in 2019.
If he is able to take some lessons from those workouts with King and implement them during Training Camp and the preseason, Maddox might very well begin the 2019 season as one of the Eagles' starting corners.
