When he first joined the Philadelphia Eagles, Alshon Jeffery agreed to a one-year "prove it" deal worth $14 Million. He certainly proved it in his first season in Philadelphia, earning a four-year extension worth $52 million with $27 million guaranteed before the end of the regular season.
Now as he prepares to enter his third season in Philly, Jeffery has restructured that contract he initially signed.
This restructure will guarantee Jeffery’s salary next season while also providing salary cap flexibility for the team.
There was definitely going to be some concerns for Jeffery's future in Philadelphia before this restructure. With him projected to count close to $16 Million against the cap in 2020 and 2021, it seemed there would be a possibility the team would get rid of him to save some money, especially if JJ Arcega-Whiteside impresses in his rookie year.
So now it appears Jeffery will be an Eagle for at least two more seasons. We know Carson Wentz will be happy to hear that. Jeffery currently has the 49th most receptions, 43rd most receiving yards, and 33rd most receiving touchdowns in Eagles history. If healthy, by the time his contract is up he will be in at least the top 20 of all three categories.
