It’s kind of a stretch to say it was an honor to be at this past weekend's game in Miami. However, it wasn’t all negative. The parking lots, tailgates and stadium were absolutely packed with Philly fans to the point that it felt like a home game. On the way into the stadium, "E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!" chants were being screamed every 30 seconds. The electricity in that stadium was like no other, and I was sure we had this game in the bag. Dolphins fans were even saying how they actually wanted the Eagles to win too because they wanted their first round pick to stay at the very top. Thank God my family didn't take the 12 point spread bet like I was insisting they should.
When we lost, our fans drug ourselves out of our seats with heavy hearts. But on the way out out of the stadium, we tried to pick our spirits back up by replacing Eagles chants with singing the Sixers song. That’s what I love so much about this fandom, even though we embarrassed ourselves by losing to the worst team in the league, we were still hopeful for what’s next and for our other teams.
A lot of fans will try to blame the players for the loss (especially guys like Carson Wentz), but ultimately it was coaching problem that led to Sunday's defeat. You can’t blame it on being “too hot” in South Florida or try to say the Dolphins are a good team, because there are absolutely no excuses for the disgrace that I watched at HardRock Stadium.
At the end of the day, I don’t regret being there and will still be behind this team no matter how far they dig their own graves. As bad as it looks right now, we STILL (somehow) have a chance at making it to the playoffs. We need to play our absolute best these next couple of weeks to redeem ourselves. If not, then there is always next year!
**Quick shoutout to my family for dealing with my potty mouth the whole game, sorry Uncle Ryan and Uncle Mike!**
