The Eagles' franchise quarterback will finally be retuning under center on Sunday when the team faces the Colts. Carson Wentz will be ready to sling footballs all over the field to prove that he can return to his 2017 MVP-like form. But when Wentz is on the field on Sunday, he's going to be short-handed.
Alshon Jeffery is still recovering from offseason shoulder surgery. He just started practicing again last week, but still ended up missing the Buccaneers game. According to Doug Pederson, don't expect to see him on the field against the Colts (and possibly for even longer).
When the preseason ended, Pederson described Jeffery's injury status as "week to week", but now the team is three weeks into the season and that status hasn't changed from week-to-week from day to day. Jeffery's status not changing is bad sign for anyone expecting to see Jeffery hit the field soon. He was taken off the team's PUP list before the season started, so Pederson and medical personal both expected Jeffery to be healthy enough to suit up before Week 7. Another update on Jeffery could come before the game against the Colts, but all signs point to Jeffery missing at least another game or two.
Expect Wentz to look for Nelson Agholor and Zach Ertz on Sunday, the two receivers he has the most chemistry with.
