“Doug, has Carson been cleared for contact yet?” Most fans were hoping that this question would only last until week one, or two. Be prepared to hear Doug answer this question for a few more weeks. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL network (@rapsheet), Carson Wentz is expected to miss several more weeks. Rapoport noted that the Eagles are being extra cautious with Wentz, to ensure their franchise QB will not only last throughout the remainder of this season, but also throughout the decade.

In hindsight, the Eagles made it clear they wanted to take things slow with Carson. If the staff believed they would have their franchise QB in the first weeks of the season, they would have taken a 2ndround pick for Foles. It seems like they knew all along that it would be a stretch for Carson to make it back by week one, or even the first month of the season. Seeing Carson in practice, and before games you would expect that he’s ready to play. Building strength around the knee and with other leg muscles, is key to avoid other muscle injuries (i.e: Jerrick McKinnon).
The Eagles will need to lean on a strong defense and Jay Ajayi until Carson Wentz is ready to make his much awaited 2018 season debut. Wentz, we’re waiting.
