The Philadelphia Eagles are Playoff Bound

The Philadelphia Eagles destroyed the odds and are on their way to playoffs. Eagles fans had to stress over not one but two games this week. Thanks to the Eagles shutout against the Redskins and the Bears victory over the Vikings, the Eagles clinch the NFC wild card spot.

The Eagles put the Redskins to sleep with a 24-0 defeat over them at their own stadium. On the first play of the game, Rasul Douglas intercepted Josh Johnsonto give the Eagles offense the ball. They got themselves on the board in the 1st quarter when Jake Eliott kicks a 33-yard-field goal bringing the starting score of the game to 3-0. The Eagles brought the score to 10-0 in the 2nd quarter when Nick Foles threw a pass to Alshon Jeffreyfor the touchdown.

After halftime, the Birds started the 3rd quarter with the ball. Foles threw a pass to Nelson Agholor near the sideline on 3rd down for a touchdown but it was initially ruled incomplete. However, Doug challenged the play and it was reversed, giving the Eagles a 17-0 lead.

Then the unthinkable happened, when beloved Nick Foles got sacked and didn't look too well after. He was taken to the locker room to get examined on his chest, and was seen bent over in pain on his way in. There was no need to fear though, as 3rd string quarterback Nate Sudfeld stepped in and threw his 1st career touchdown to Agholor, bringing the score to the final 24-0.

At the end of the Eagles game, fans all over flipped the channel to check on the fellow Chicago Bears and cheer them on to victory. The Bears were up 24-10 in the 4th quarter and managed to bring home another win, advancing the Eagles to the playoffs and making Philadelphia fans go from praising the Bears to hating them, as both teams will now face each other next week for the right to advance further in the playoffs.

Behind all the excitement lies some fear for Eagles fans. The question remains as to who will be quarterback next week and lead us to the promised land. Will the Eagles fly through playoffs with another back up quarter back or will St. Nick use his magic powers to be back for next weeks game. Sources say Foles suffered a few bruised ribs and should be ready for next weeks game with some rest, but more news will become available on Monday.

The Eagles finished the regular season with nine wins and seven losses, and are now scheduled to play the Chicago Bears in Chicago at 4:40 pm Eastern time on Sunday.
