It was reported late last night that the Eagles were bringing in Jay Ajayi today for a workout. The workout must have went well, because NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting that Ajayi and the Eagles have agreed to a contract to get him back in midnight green.
The signing of Ajayi comes after the team announced earlier today that Darren Sproles will miss the rest of the 2019 season with a torn right hip flexor muscle. Jordan Howard hasn't been cleared for contact either with his shoulder injury, so the team might be down two running backs for Sunday's game against the Patriots, which is why the team was quick to bring in someone who already knows the Eagles offense.
Some are saying that Ajayi might not be in game shape for Sunday's game, but if he isn't able to play then the Eagles will potentially only have Miles Sanders and Boston Scott available for this weekend's game. I would think the team is only going to sign Ajayi right now if he is fine to play Sunday, so I doubt the case will be that he won't be prepared in time.
