Studs and Duds From Preseason Opener

The Philadelphia Eagles kicked off their 2019 season on not such a hot note, losing their first preseason game 27-10 to the Tennessee Titans at Lincoln Financial Field. Nothing to fear though because star quarterback Carson Wentz wasn't playing and its only preseason so they are saving all their tricks for the big stage. However, the game did have its fair share of studs and duds.

STUD

Marken Michel was definitely one of the stars of the night with his 75 yard touchdown. He now has name more of a name for himself and has wedge himself closer towards earning the final wide receiver roster spot, although he needs more games like Thursday night the rest of the preseason to have that shot.

DUD The offensive line as individuals weren't on their top game. As a unit they managed to create no running room the entire night. Eagles running backs only rushed for 36 yards last night.

STUD

Jake Elliot had an average game, booming a 53 yard field goal for the Eagles first 3 points on the board. Although right before half time he missed a much shorter kick to try to cut into the Titans lead.

DUD

Josh Adams had fumbling issues in 2018, and if he doesn't fix those issues he isn't gonna make the 53-man roster. So what did Adams do last night? fumbled the ball which killed a promising two minute drive.

DUD

Sudfield was a real stud in the beginning of the game. He showed he could move his feet and get the ball down the field until he broke his wrist and came out of the game, which then put him into a dud status.

DUD

Donnel Pumphrey had one last chance to make an impression as a kick returner. He promptly fumbled the ball when the spotlight was on him during a return (but the Eagles did recover the fumble). Still, that fumble sealed his fate and he will not be making the Eagles roster in 2019.

All the mistakes made in this game will just make us stronger and better for the real thing. Better to get it all out now when it doesn't matter. The Eagles have a promising season ahead of them despite this first game.
