The first week of the 2020 NFL season has arrived and with that, the arrival of the 2020 NFL betting season. It is once again that glorious time of year where we celebrating cashing in on a +300 dog or an insane player prop parlay. I'm here to give an in-depth breakdown of the lines for the week and help you make an informed decision on how you want to print your tickets.
Week One vs Washington Football Team:
Spread: PHI -5.5
Money line: PHI -250; WAS +210
Total Points: o/u 42.5
The spread opened at PHI -6, went up to PHI -6.5, and, in the last 7 days, dropped an entire point to PHI -5.5. That touchdown looks really good considering if the Eagles' offensive line can get Carson Wentz any time at all, he'll be throwing at a secondary led by former Philadelphia "superstar" Ronald Darby. This is following WFT new addition, CB Kendall Fuller, being downgraded to doubtful on Friday. If CB Darius Slay can slow down Washington's sophomore star receiver Terry McLaurin enough to let the Eagles offense settle in, the -5.5 seems like a good bet.
Smart Money: PHI ML
Pro Football Focus gives the Birds a 69.1% win probability Sunday. The WFT is coming in having probably the most "2020" offseason you can imagine of any team, giving Philadelphia the edge in continuity advantage.
Other NFL lines to consider:
NYJ at BUF -6.5
With safety Jamal Adams being traded to Seattle last month, Buffalo's strong-armed QB Josh Allen and his new receiver Stefon Diggs will be attacking the Jets defense over the top.
TEN ML vs DEN
The second leg of Monday Night's doubleheader may be kicking off while we have our coffee for Tuesday, but it does look to be a solid matchup of mid-tier AFC teams. Denver's Drew Lock and his new weapons Jerry Jeudy, KJ Hamler, and Melvin Gordon will take on Tennessee with PFF's 3rd highest graded QB (!) of 2019, Ryan Tannehill, Derrick Henry, and the Titans all-around solid offense. End of the day, the Titans should find a way to win late Monday night.
