Yes... And in other news, water is wet.
“It was the right decision early , it is the right decision now, and it will be the right decision ever." Will Ferrell as George W. Bush in "You're Welcome America".
I cannot believe the negative feedback I'm seeing on Twitter regarding this move. It's insanity. This city was starved for a championship for over 50 years. One Super Bowl win and how quickly everyone seems to forget. Before Wentz blew out his knee in '17, he was playing at an otherworldly level. No way the Eagles even make it to that Super Bowl without him.
Last year, Wentz was not quite himself and he still put up top tier QB stats. I get that he can play reckless outside of the pocket. I get that there's reason to question durability after a knee and a back injury. There's also nothing that can take away what Nick Foles did for this team and city when he was called upon. He's a legend in his own right and will never pay for a drink when he comes to visit.
All that being said though, I'm making this move every day of the week and twice on Sundays. You want to talk about risk? Risk was giving up the farm to get in position to even draft Wentz who was from a Division III school in North Dakota and there were no assurances that he would produce at the NFL level.
After what Howie has done considering the disaster that was the short-lived Chip Kelly era, and how Wentz has played when healthy, to have the audacity to question the move? For shame Eagles fans.
Watch the video below, repeatedly, and get excited for the fall. The Eagles should be the team to beat in the division and a top contender in the conference. Wentz has all the tools to succeed: a beefed up O-Line, a strong RB stable, speedy & tall WRs, a great TE tandem, and a coach who loves to air it out. It's going to be a fun ride and it will be here before you know it.
