RUMOR: Eagles Have Called Browns About Odell Beckham Jr.

The NFL trade deadline is still three weeks away, which means there will be plenty of rumors and buzz going around about tons of players throughout the league. With DeSean Jackson dealing with what appears to be an abdomen injury that could linger throughout the rest of the season, it appears the team might be trying to upgrade at the wide receiver position. One player that the Eagles are rumored to be in on? Odell Beckham Jr.

This really shouldn't come as too much of a surprise if it is in fact true, because earlier this season Howie Roseman already said that the team discuss virtually every player and make phone calls to NFL GMs regularly. Still, it is a little shocking that the team could be interested in adding one of the best wide receivers in all of football as a replacement to DeSean Jackson.

The Eagles are currently $22 Million under the salary cap, so they can easily afford Odell's $17 Million cap hit for this season. If a trade were to go through then the Eagles would boast arguably the best wide receiver core in the NFL, with Beckham Jr. joining Alshon Jeffery on the outside with Nelson Agholor in the slot. That's before even adding Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert into the mix.

With Jalen Ramsey seemingly off the table in trade talks, Roseman might be looking at a different way of improving the roster. He might be figuring that any other available corners for a trade won't be worth trading for, especially since the Eagles should be healthy at cornerback within the next month as Jalen Mills, Cre'Von LeBlanc and Ronald Darby are all expected to join back in.

These talks are likely just preliminary at the moment, and might not get further than an initial offer from both teams if they feel they're far apart on compensation. Still, there are three weeks for the Eagles and Browns to try and come to an agreement if they feel they can work this deal out.
