Even though we've known he'd be gone for a long time, the Jay Train is officially pulling away from Philadelphia's station, as today the veteran running back has seemingly signed with the Houston Texans. Al Michaels nonchalantly brought it up during tonight's preseason telecast.
After initially starting free agency with a visit to the Indianapolis Colts, there was a brief possibility that the Eagles could have brought Ajayi back. But the Eagles decided to trade for Jordan Howard to solve part of their running back woes, and once that trade was official Ajayi said his goodbyes to Philadelphia. The team also drafted Miles Sanders in the second round of this year's draft, which pushed the chances of Ajayi coming back even more. The final nail in the coffin was when the Eagles decided to sign a veteran running back, but chose Darren Sproles over him.
After his one and a half-year stint with the Birds, Ajayi leaves the team 57th in franchise history in rushing yards (592), 72nd in rush attempts (115) and T-58th in rushing touchdowns (4).
