The Eagles have made a big-splash before the trade deadline for the second season in a row, this time getting another weapon for Carson Wentz by trading for Detroit Lions wide receiver.
Schefter said on NFL Live that Tate is most likely a rental player for the Eagles. If the Eagles end up not resigning him, they will receive a compensation pick in 2020.
Making this trade allows players like Mack Hollins and Mike Wallace the ability not to rush back from their respective injuries. The Eagles can still take them off IR this season (teams are allowed to take two players off of IR), but now they feel like they won't need to hurry them back.
