Depending upon what you are using as your barometer, the NFL, perhaps more than any pro sports league, is loaded with overrated, overhyped and overpaid athletes. These "Big O's", of course, are not necessarily one and the same.
So, since we all now have too much time on our hands, I thought it might be worthwhile to form a team of who is stealing money in the NFL.
Some come to mind very quickly, starting with Eagles WR Alshon Jeffrey, Bengals QB Andy Dalton, Raiders QB Derek Carr followed by Bears QB Nick Foles, Jets RB Le'Veon Bell, Falcons RB Todd Gurley, Vikings QB Kirk Cousins, Bengals WR A.J. Green, Browns WR Jarvis Landry, Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger, and newly free agent QB Cam Newton.
Guys on a very noticeable slide are Eagles nemesis and free agent that no one really wants Jadeveon Clowney, Bears TE Jimmy Graham, Texans RB Lamar Miller, Saints CB Eli Apple, Titans QB Marcus Mariota, Bills CB Josh Norman, Lions WR Danny Amendola, and newly free agent LB Clay Matthews. Oh, can't forget Jay Ajayi, whom the Eagles issued a free ticket to free agency last year after a brief reunion with the team. Will anyone bite on Ajayi? I can't see it, but the London-born running back is a huge fan of the English Premier (Soccer) League and could find work there.
Other less notables might be Chiefs CB Marcus Peters, Lions DE Trey Flowers, Giants CB James Bradberry, Bucs OT Donovan Smith, Giants DE Leonard Wiliams.
We could go on and on, but these folks comfortably meet the Big Three O's category.
And here's a handful of UNDERRATED players. One who comes to mind quickly is Bucs LB Shaquil Barrett, who was hidden behind other Denver edge rushers for years before being dealt to Tampa Bay. Many considered Barrett the bargain of the 2019 league year.
And finally, a few more Underrated players starting with Case Keenum, whom the Browns signed as a backup to Baker Mayfield. Keenum is a true value as a backup, one the Eagles could have used. Speaking of the Eagles, here's hoping they sign free agent Joe Flacco, the South Jersey QB could double as another mentor for Nate Sudfeld's ongoing development.
Toss in Jags QB Gardner Minshew, who forced the Jaguars to deal Foles to Chicago. Browns RB Nick Chubb, Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin, Eagles RG Brandon Brooks, Colts QB Jacoby Brissett and Packers NT Kenny Clark for a shortlist of my underrated, over-achieving standouts on their way to a Pro Bowl call or two before long.
