Miles Sanders Named Finalist for Rookie of the Year

A fantastic rookie year by Miles Sanders has culminated in the first-year running back to be one of five nominees for the 2019 Rookie of the Year Award.

Sanders has a lot of historical reasons for why he should be named this year's winner of the award. He led all rookies with 1,327 scrimmage yards (818 rushing, 509 receiving) in 2019 and joined Saquon Barkley (2018) as the only rookies with at least 800 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards since 2000. He also surpassed LeSean McCoy (637 in 2009) for the most rushing yards by a rookie in Eagles franchise history, and surpassed DeSean Jackson (1,008 in 2008) for the most scrimmage yards by an Eagles rookie in team history.

Winning the award this year will be tough for Sanders though, as the other four nominees had some pretty solid seasons too. Kyler Murray will get some votes just because of his 1st overall pick status, Nick Bosa is already a Pro Bowler, Josh Jacobs had over 1,000 rushing yards, and A.J. Brown had over 1,000 receiving yards.

This year's class will be one of the hardest ones to decide in recent memory. Sanders should get some votes, but this year's winner could truly go one of many different ways. Still, "Boobie" was acknowledged for his amazing accomplishments during the 2019 season, and is a big reason why the Eagles are currently preparing for a postseason game.
