At this morning’s press conference Coach Doug Pederson announced that not only would DeSean Jackson not be practicing today, but he also is ruled out of the game this Sunday vs. the Lions. Jackson suffered an abdominal strain during the Falcons game last week and was taken out of the game. Earlier this week, it was reported that Jackson would likely be out one to two weeks. It is possible that he may be ready to go for Thursday Night Football against the Green Bay Packers, but the more likely scenario is that we will not see Jackson take the field again until at least the Jets game in Week 5.
Alshon Jeffery (calf) and Dallas Goedert (calf) also haven’t practiced at all this week, but Pederson is optimistic that they will be able to play in two days. Pederson said, “I’m still optimistic. We’ll see today and then obviously wait until gameday.”
We certainly hope that Jeffery is ready to go since Mack Hollins said Thursday that he would pick special teams over being a receiver in the offense if he were given the choice. Carson Wentz is going to need as many weapons on the field as he can get and having Jeffery and Goedert back on the field would certainly put Eagles fans everywhere at ease about the long list of injuries the team has sustained this season so far.
