The Eagles made a splash today at the trade deadline by acquiring Golden Tate from the Detroit Lions in exchange for a 3rd-round pick. Before Howie Roseman made the decision to get Tate, it sounds like he wanted to bring in a different wide receiver weapon for Carson Wentz.
The Texans ended up trading for Demaryius Thomas in exchange for a 4th round pick and also swapped 7th-round draft picks with the Broncos.
The Eagles probably would have preferred losing a 4th-round pick instead of giving up a 3rd-round pick for Golden Tate, but Tate will be just as good of an addition to the Eagles offense as Thomas would have been.
