With the final preseason game just two night away, the Eagles already have a pretty good idea of who will make this year's roster and who on the 90-man roster will be hitting the road after Thursday.
The team wants to be proactive and get rid of the guys they know wouldn't make the team and bring in some fresh blood that could intrigue them enough to keep around or in case they need to make additions during the season they'll know who they'd want to call. That's exactly what happened today when it was announced the Eagles signed safety Jason Thompson and released Tre Sullivan.
Thompson is a 25-year-old safety who went undrafted in 2017. He has spent time on the Green Bay Packers, Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots in some offseason rosters capacity, but has yet to play in a regular season game. He'll likely get some reps Thursday night to try and leave a good impression on the Eagles staff just in case they'd need him at some point later in the season.
