Eagles Sign Veteran Cornerback to Future Contract

Today the Eagles added another player to their offseason roster, as they have signed veteran cornerback Trevor Williams to a future contract.

The undrafted Penn State alum has been in the NFL since 2016, spending most of his career with the San Diego/Los Angeles Chargers followed by a brief stint in Arizona with the Cardinals this past season. He has been a backup for most of his career, but had a chance to start in 2017 and 2018 thanks to injuries to other cornerbacks on the Chargers. Williams received the 10th best overall grade among all qualifying cornerbacks from Pro Football Focus in 2017. In 39 career games, Williams has registered 110 tackles, 22 pass deflections, three interceptions, and one fumble recovery.

Injuries have plagued him from the second-half of 2018 until now, but the Eagles figure he is probably worth the low-risk of signing him to see if he can have a renaissance and resurgence in Philadelphia.
