Last week the Alliance of American Football suspended its operations as it prepares to fold. The Eagles instantly got on the phone with one of the top quarterbacks from the league, and got QB Luis Perez of the Birmingham Iron in today at the NovaCare Complex for a workout.
Perez must have impressed, as the team decided to sign the quarterback.
Perez now has a hold of the third QB spot on the depth chart, behind Carson Wentz and Nate Sudfeld. This won't deter the Eagles plans for the draft though - if the Eagles want to add a quarterback late in the draft or add an undrafted free agent gunslinger they certainly wouldn't mind giving Perez some competition.
