The Eagles have added a safety, though it’s not a name many are familiar with. The team has signed Justin Evans to a one-year deal.
Evans was a 2017 second-round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, starting 21 games for them in 2017 & 2018. He was sidelined by injuries in 2019, 2020, and 2021. The 27-year-old started 4 games (played 15) with the Saints last season.
In 39 career games, Evans has 154 tackles (5 TFLs), four interceptions, 10 passes defended, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery (returned for a touchdown).
It’s unlikely that Evans will start in 2023, he should mostly be a depth piece. The Eagles still need to bring in one more safety since the team needs to replace both C.J. Gardner-Johnson and Marcus Epps.
