Eagles Sign CB Steven Nelson

Writer: Andrew W.Andrew W.

One of the biggest holes the Eagles still needed to address was a solid #2 cornerback to play alongside Darius Slay, and it now appears that they have addressed the glaring need. The Eagles announced that they have signed Steven Nelson to a one-year contract.

He will make north of $4 Million this season.

Nelson was originally a third-round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2015 NFL Draft. After four years with the Chiefs Nelson earned a big pay day in 2019 when he signed a three-year, $25.5 million contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Through 82 career games, Nelson has registered 291 tackles (10 for loss), seven interceptions, and 52 passes defended.

When September roles around it is likely that Darius Slay and Steven Nelson will be the starting outside cornerbacks, with Avonte Maddox working as the primary slot corner.
