Eagles Restructure Blake Countess' Contract

A few days after bringing back former draft pick Blake Countess, the team has decided to restructure the contract, according to NBC Sports Philadelphia's Reuben Frank.

Frank reports that the team was able to lower Countess' cap number for the upcoming season, and in return for that they extended his contract for it to run through the 2020 season.

So now if Countess outperforms the competition at the safety position, he'll stick with the team and also have an opportunity to remain in Philadelphia for a second season after that. Countess probably wants some stability in his football career, and Howie Roseman is giving him a chance to earn that stability. Countess is a favorite to make the final 53-man roster as a depth safety and a special teams ace.
