The Eagles lost a depth piece on their defensive line on Wednesday, as unrestricted free agent DT Hassan Ridgeway signed a one-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers.
Ridgeway has been a rotational interior defensive lineman for the Birds the past three seasons. He appeared in 31 games as an Eagle and played 759 snaps on defense while registering 5.0 sacks, 10 QB hits, and 39 tackles (7 tackles for loss).
As of now Fletcher Cox, Javon Hargrave, and Milton Williams are set to be the three main rotational pieces at defensive tackle. But there are rumors that the team is shopping Cox on the trading mill.
Even with the depth still solid on paper, everyone knows that Howie Roseman loves dominating each side of the trenches. So fans shouldn’t be surprised if the team uses an early draft pick on a defensive lineman or spends some money on a free agent to come be part of the 2022 rotation.
