Eagles Hire Brian Johnson as New QBs Coach

A few days ago the Eagles decided that QBs coach Press Taylor was not going to be retained for Nick Sirianni's staff. They have quickly found Taylor's replacement, as the team is reportedly adding Brian Johnson as the next QBs coach.

Johnson is seen as a young up-and-comer in the coaching scene, as this will be his first job in the NFL. Here's a look at his decade-long coaching resume in college:

  • Quarterbacks coach with Utah (2010–2011)

  • Offensive coordinator & quarterbacks coach with Utah (2012–2013)

  • Quarterbacks coach with Mississippi State (2014–2016)

  • Offensive coordinator & quarterbacks coach with Houston (2017)

  • Quarterbacks coach with Florida (2018–2019)

  • Offensive coordinator & quarterbacks coach with Florida (2020)

There is a youth movement in Philadelphia, as all the key coaches hired so far are under 40 years old (Nick Sirianni -- 39, Jonathan Gannon -- 37, Shane Steichen --- 35, Brian Johnson -- 33). There could be some high rewards for going with a young staff, but there are plenty of risks as well. If the Eagles are successful in 2021 there's a likelihood that some of these coaches end up getting hired for promotions for different teams across the league.
