Eagles fans have had a terrible reputation around the NFL since forever it seems. From that booing incident with Santa over 50 years ago, to throwing iceballs at the Cowboys in 1989, to cheering Michael Irvin's injury in 1999, to punching police horses just last season, the national media is always trying to exploit everything Eagles fans do and tell other fanbases just how terrible Philadelphians are. Well the national media isn't gonna like what happened after the Eagles-Saints game on Sunday.
When the Eagles were on their potential game-winning touchdown drive, Nick Foles threw a bullet to Alshon Jeffery just before the two-minute warning. The ball slipped through his hands and fell into the hands of Marshon Lattimore, ending Philadelphia's shot at a possible repeat. In previous years, a player who makes that kind of physical or mental mistake in an Eagles uniform gets ripped for eternity by fans. This time though, the reaction was much different...
The city is rallying around their #1 WR and letting him know we will always have his back. Of course after he did this in the Super Bowl (with a torn rotator cuff no less), Eagles fans will always think positively of Jeffery and will not let one unfortunate play define his time in Philadelphia.
It was later revealed by Lane Johnson that Jeffery played Sunday's game in New Orleans with broken ribs.
This further proves how tough of a competitor Jeffery is, and how much he wanted to bring another championship to Philadelphia. We should be (and always will be) proud to call him a Philadelphia Eagle, and a guy who helped bring home the first Lombadi Trophy in Eagles history. Jeffery will now have an offseason to heal from his injury, and look to bounce back and help lead the Eagles offense in 2019.
