Eagles Claim Kerryon Johnson Off of Waivers

The Eagles are retooling their running back group for the 2021 season. With Miles Sanders and Boston Scott returning, the Eagles also reunited with Jordan Howard earlier in the offseason.

Last week the team also drafted Kenneth Gainwell in the fifth-round of the 2021 NFL Draft, and now they are adding a fifth running back to the group as they have claimed Kerryon Johnson off of waivers from the Detroit Lions.

Johnson was a second round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft and has produced 1,225 rushing yards and 11 rushing touchdowns in 34 career games.

In addition to his rushing stats, Johnson has added 61 receptions for 527 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns.

It's likely that the team only keeps four running backs for Week 1, but it's unclear which of the five main running backs on the roster will be the odd man out.
