Eagles Bolster Their Safety Group by Acquiring Chauncey Gardner-Johnson

The safety position has been weak in Philadelphia since the departure of Malcolm Jenkins after the 2019 season. After a disappointing camp, the team decided to part ways with Anthony Harris, but soon after that announcement the team acquired Chauncey Gardner-Johnson from the Saints.

Gardner-Johnson is a huge upgrade over Harris, and embodies the Philadelphia spirit with his taunting and knows the best ways to get under an opponent's skin to make them get penalized.

The only issue is that CGJ was expecting a new contract with the Saints, and the reason he was traded was that he couldn't come to an agreement with New Orleans. Fitting him inside the cap shouldn't be too much of an issue, the Eagles know that 24-year-old starting safeties are hard to come by.
