Eagles Add Former Dolphins Defensive Coordinator as Top Aide for Jim Schwartz

The offseason has only started for the Philadelphia Eagles less than three weeks ago, and there has already been some turnover on the coaching staff. Neither Chris Wilson (defensive line coach) nor Gunter Brewer (wide receiver coach) will return to the sidelines, but today the Eagles added a coach to their staff that could become a big part of the team in the future.

Burke has been in the NFL since 2004, serving as an Administrative assistant and Defense quality control coach for the Tennessee Titans, along with becoming the Linebackers coach for the Detroit Lions, Cincinnati Bengals and Miami Dolphins before being promoted to defensive coordinator in Miami.

With Burke having a majority experience coaching linebackers, it could be that the Eagles wanted to have a coach lined up if/when current linebacker coach Ken Flajole eventually leaves. Burke has a close relationship with Jim Schwartz, so this could be a sign that Schwartz is expecting to remain in Philadelphia for years to come and wanted one of "his guys" here to help with his defense.
