The Eagles have added another cornerback, signing Greedy Williams to a one-year deal.
The 25-year-old started 21 games in three seasons for the Browns. He spent 2020 on IR and has only appeared in 39 out of a possible 66 games.
A 2019 2nd-round pick out of LSU, Williams has a 6’2 frame and ran a 4.37-second 40.
This signing is similar to the Rashaad Penny signing. The Birds grab an often injured player that will want to prove they can stay healthy and possibly earn a big deal in next year’s free agency. It should them help out being in Philadelphia, where the Eagles have adopted a more relaxed practice style compared to the rest of the league.
If both Williams and Penny play well this coming season, they could help the Eagles grab compensatory picks in 2025 if they sign big deals with other teams in 2024.
This deal shouldn’t interfere with Howie Roseman’s last big goal of the offseason which is bringing back C.J. Gardner-Johnson.
