Today was the Eagles' last practice before their preseason opener on Thursday night versus Tennessee. Birds fans will finally have a game to watch for the first time since January (although the game itself doesn't really mean much). In his press conference after practice, Doug Pederson provided some updates on what to expect from his players in the game against the Titans.
First, he said he hasn't decided on if Carson Wentz will suit up and play in the game.
Regardless of whether or not Wentz plays, one thing for certain is that Nate Sudfeld will be getting a ton of reps in the Titans game and the three other preseason games.
The other big update was that Halapoulivaati Vaitai will be at right guard exclusively on Thursday (and likely the entire preseason). Andre Dillard will be getting the extra reps at left tackle.
With Dillard taking up most of the snaps at left tackle, it sounds like that means Jordan Mailata will be getting his snaps at right tackle once Lane Johnson is off the field. Once Dillard was brought in both Mailata and Vaitai have been learning new positions to determine their future with the team.
The typical standard for the first preseason game is that the healthy starters only play the first series or two, and then the rest of the game is played by the second and third-string guys. Pederson and the rest of the coaching staff are still discussing other options though, so there might be some surprises thrown in Thursday night.
