Carson Wentz is the Eagles Nominee for 2019 Sportsmanship Award

For the second year in a row, Carson Wentz has been named the Eagles nomination for the 2019 Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award.

This is the sixth year of the award's existence, and according to the NFL:

"The award is presented each year to an NFL player who best demonstrates the qualities of on-field sportsmanship, including fair play, respect for the game and opponents, and integrity in competition."

A panel of former players from the NFL Legends Community will select eight finalists (four in the AFC and four in the NFC) from the 32 nominees. Those finalists will be listed on the Pro Bowl ballot in a special category when players vote come December 13th. From the eight finalists, each team's players will submit a consensus vote of their choice for the winner (a team cannot vote for its own player). The winner will receive a $25,000 donation from the NFL Foundation to a charity of his choice along with a special trophy.

In his short time in the NFL, Wentz has demonstrated excellent on-field sportsmanship along with integrity in competition. He should have a fair shot at coming home with the award.

The winner will be announced during the NFL Honors show, which takes place the night before Super Bowl LIV.
