Brian Dawkins Visits Alma Mater After Deadly Shooting

Updated: Apr 12, 2019

Before he was a standout player at Clemson University, Brian Dawkins started out playing football at Raines High School in Jacksonville, Florida. Last month at his alma mater, there was a shooting right outside the school's football field during a game that left a 19-year-old man dead and two others injured. Dawkins decided to visit his former school and talk to all the students about gun violence, and how he had two friends that were killed because of gun violence.

Dawkins also talked more about mental health and depression, which he discussed during his Hall of Fame speech back in August. Dawkins wanted to make sure all the students know that mental illnesses and depression shouldn't keep them from following their dreams.

Not only was Dawkins a Hall of Famer on the field, but he is showing why he is a Hall of Famer off the field.
