Bold Predictions: Philadelphia Eagles vs. New Orleans Saints

The Eagles frenzy writers started our bold predictions back in Week 13. From Weeks 13-16, there was at least one writer who made an at least partially correct prediction in every single game.

In Week 13, our writer Campbell Duffy's prediction came true that the Eagles finally got Golden Tate in the endzone and he ended up becoming a focal point in the passing game. In Week 14, our writer Andrew W was right that the Cowboys game would be extremely stressful and would reach overtime, but he predicted a defensive stop in OT that did not come. In Week 15we had two: our writer Tyler Wells predicted an Eagles upset over the Rams 31-23 (the score ended up being 30-23), and Andrew W. predicted the Eagles would keep Todd Gurley under 50 yards rushing, and thanks to an injury he only finished with 48 rushing yards. As for Week 16, our writer Tyler Wells predicted a big game for Nelson Agholor with 120 yards and 2 touchdowns. The prediction came just 4 yards shy of being right (Agholor had 116 yards) and only recorded one touchdown. Unfortunately none of our Week 17 predictions came close, but we rebounded in the Wild Card round thanks to Campbell's prediction. The Bears were a perfect 12-0 when holding teams to under 24 points this season. Campbell predicted the Eagles would become the first team to defeat them while keeping under that offensive point total.

With having at least one prediction come true in five out of six weeks, we are confident we can have a positive Eagles prediction come true this week. Here are Eagles Frenzy’s bold predictions for the Eagles' Divisional Playoff matchup versus the New Orleans Saints:

Tyler Wells (@TylerDylanWells):

  • Wendell Smallwood is my guy this week. He's been up and down so many times you never know how or if he'll play. He's gonna score twice this Sunday -- once for about 40 yards on a screen & another on a run from 15 yards out. Final score: Eagles 32, Saints 18.

Andrew W:

  • I am fully on board the revenge train. For the Bears game I went with the deep sleeper Deiondre' Hall, who ended up having a solid game on special teams but didn't make an "impact play". Instead of going with Darren Sproles or Malcolm Jenkins, I'm going with another under the radar guy this week. Boston Scott was signed off the Saints practice squad a month ago by the Eagles, and has had a few decent returns so far. I'm predicting Scott is able to take one to the house for the first special teams touchdown of the season for the Eagles.

Aaron W:

  • The Eagles are once again, big underdogs this week against the New Orleans Saints. This might not be a bad thing though. The Eagles are significantly better when they are the underdogs. I predict that Fletcher Cox and the defensive line takes advantage of the undersized (but great) Drew Brees, and forces 4 sacks Sunday night.

Campbell Duffy:

  • I don't think Nick Foles gets sacked this week. The Eagles offensive line, anchored by All-Pro center Jason Kelce, has been a juggernaut protecting Foles. The line has allowed 8 sacks in the last four games, with only one coming last week against Khalil Mack and the Bears. Nick Foles could be dropping back early and often in what could quickly turn into a high scoring affair, but I think he gets it out of his hands in time. Go Birds.

Michael Vaccaro:

  • I've been on the Avonte Maddox train for the last two weeks. While I still expect him to have a good game, this week I'm going with fan favorite Cre'Von LeBlanc to have a pick in Saints territory. Turnovers have been lacking for the Eagles D in these playoffs, and I think they're going to need at least one to pull off the big upset in the Big Easy.

Alexis Tighe:

  • The odds are not in the Eagles favor this upcoming week, just how the underdogs like it. I predict a full revenge-shocker game where the Eagles win it. I think it will be like last year's Viking game, where everyone thought we would get crushed but our offense just wracks up the points. Eagles defeat the Saints 32-24.

Will any of these predictions come true? We will find out soon.
