The Eagles are going into this weekend's game against the Cincinnati Bengals desperately needing a victory to avoid an 0-3 start to a season (and a revolt from fans in Philadelphia). Before the teams take the field, our writers need to make their bold predictions for the game known.
Here's a recap of previous bold predictions from each week and the winning predictor from our writers:
Week 1: no one
Week 2: Andrew W.
We'll see if anyone can have a fully correct prediction this week as the Eagles try to get win #1 on the board in 2020. Here's what our writers are boldly predicting for this weekend:
Andrew W: Even if he isn't on the hot seat yet with ownership, Doug Pederson is feeling the pressure from fans. He is going to have to pull out some tricks to get back in the good graces of everyone in Philadelphia. That's why he is going to pull out at least two trick plays -- one will be either a flea-flicker or double reverse, the other one will be a touchdown involving Jalen Hurts in some fashion.
Caitlin: Carson Wentz tosses two touchdowns and Miles Sanders rushes for one in a 24-20 win over the Bengals.
Trevor: Call me crazy but I think Jim Schwartz’s ego takes a hit and he draws up a game plan that drives rookie QB Joe Burrow crazy. Defense shows up in a big way on Sunday. They’ll force three interceptions, three sacks and hold Cincinnati to three points. 31-3 Eagles
Paul: Carson Wentz throws three touchdowns for 350 yds and one interception. Zach Ertz will haul in one of those touchdowns. Miles Sanders is the bellcow and gets 20+ carries. The final score will 30-26, but I'll leave which teams scores which points up in the air.
Gianfranco: Carson Wentz and DeSean Jackson connect on THREE TOUCHDOWNS — all of them end up being 45 + yards.
Spencer: I predict Carson Wentz gets a confidence boost from this game. He'll get the offense rolling early with two touchdowns in the first half, just like against Washington. In the second half, he throws another touchdown and finishes with no turnovers. Wentz will officially be back.
